Good Gun trade?

Sig,

Perhaps you would be more at home on a law forum? My Children shot firearms that I purchased FOR THEM from 6 years on up . . . they now own them . . . my Grandkids are following suit. I didn't view it as a "straw purchase" . . . the firearms were legally in my name. I did view it as "passing-on the legacy."

Thank you for you support :)

Anyways, I stopped by the gun show, found a $99 Mosin and got it :). That thing was definetly heavier than I though, I only had enough money to get 15 cartridges though:eek:. I got some that looked like it had a steel casing, with copper bullet, and silver on the end of the bullet. The guy said they would kick less so I picked 'em out. Any idea what make they are?

What's the headstamp say? How were they packed?

Good for you, I'm not sure on the ammo, but I can tell you that it will most likely shoot a little high @ 100 yds. (Lots of old battle rifles do) and that it has respectable recoil (you'll appreciate the weight of that old rifle) and that it will likely be shootin' when your grandkids inherit it.

Look in to the Appleseed Shoot program, they'll help you wring the best out of that old soldier.

Good luck

I think it is Czech ammo due to the casing/bullet head. The headstamp has a 21 on the top, and a 78 on the bottom. It also has red looking paint where the bullet meets case, and primer meets case.

If I am not mistaken the parents also own all of Auburn's money so he can't possibly perform a straw purchase as a minor child if his parents buy it. That red paint is a sealant that should make the case "more or less" waterproof if I am not mistaken. I have 5 Mosins now including carbines, 91/30s, and a Finn m27. They shoot better than most people think (especially if you cast your own .312 bullets).

I'd not trade a Remington 870 and a Walther for a Philippine clone 1911. I do have a RIA 1911 clone that works fine though.

A Mosin Nagant is a fine addition to the collection. How do you like the G22? I sold mine w/o even shooting it! I got a good deal on it and just pocketed the extra cash. I hear they are hard to disassemble/reassemble.

Yea, they're really hard to disassemble and take a long time to clean with the many parts. But I like the uniqueness of it. I haven't tested accuracy yet but will do so soon.

How exactly does a 15 year-old child buy a gun at a gun show?

He doesn't. His parents do.

Before turning 18 my parents/guardians bought 2 mosins, a turk mauser, and a yugo sks for me. Technically, they are their's, as i could not have bought one. Yet being as that i know more about them and more importanly, how to work them and break them down, they were titled as 'mine'. I also was the only one to ever shoot them.
