Hi, everyone. Hope everyone had a good holiday.

I own a stainless P220, and I was wondering what would be a good holster to carry it in.

The thing is really heavy. I own a Fobus OWB holster, but I don't like carrying it that way. The gun sticks out too much, and I have to keep pulling my pants up. However, I know lots of people carry full-size guns daily. High end 1911s like Wilson Combat and Rock River are about as heavy as my P220.

I like to carry IWB, but I'd be open to other ideas. I'd appreciate suggestions for holster brands or modes of carry. Thanks!

My son and I both carry our P228's in a Gould and Goodrich Gold line Thumb-Break holster. Outside the waistband, but high and concealed.

Heavy Holsters

This is why I started making holsters! I had holsters from 3 different manufactors and had the same problems with all, so I started making my own and found that to prevent this you needed heavier leather than what they were using.

Good lookin holsters & really good price. It wont be long until you are backed up a lot.

Just about any good solid pancake from a reputable maker and even an off of the rack...Galco, etc should do you just fine.

I carry a 54 oz gun (20 rounds of 9mm inc.) on a pancake everyday and at times a 1911 also....

Look around and see what you like and just go from there.

Shoot well and god bless

Most makers who make holsters also offer belts. One thing is making sure the holsters belt slots/loops fit pretty closely with the belt width. Alot of off of the rack holsters come with 1 3/4" loops and most jeans only take 1 1/2" belts..so you may have some play in that scenario.

With a heavy gun and carrying OWB....a GOOD belt is very very important.

There are way to many companies to list..........and everyone has a preference.

Shoot well and god bless

Thanks for all the input, guys.

I ordered a Milt Sparks Versa Max 2 IWB holster. I called them and I was very impressed with the customer service. The guy on the phone took the time to answer all my questions and make the recommendation.

They're running 5 months out, but that's OK..I'm in no hurry.

Roy Weber, I tried to check your site but got this message instead...

In my days as a web guy, I ran into this problem quite a bit with a few client sites that were graphics heavy. If you have a lot of photos of your work on your pages, you may need to resize them down smaller (if possible) to save on bandwidth, or order a hosting package that allows a larger daily data transfer quota.

Don't forget the belt. If you are going to have the a holster made for you now is the time to have the belt made as well. It will cost a few dollars but a well made setup will last a long long time. One of the reasons is to have the belt loops on the holster matched to the belt. Most concealment holsters are made for 1 3/4" belt, most people wear a 1 1/2" inch belt, holster flops and moves around. Consider your normal dress and find a good compromise belt with (probably 1 1/2") that will work in jeans and dress pants. Than have it made thick and have the holster slots match it. This will give you a very comfortable setup and aid in the concealment of your weapon, you will be glad you did. Happy New Year! Bill

P.S. Roy, looks like nice work.

Happy New Year! Bill

You too!

I just bought a thick leather belt that's 1 1/2 inches. The belt loops on the holster are that width, also.

The belt makes all the difference. Not just in quality but in size. I carry a 220 in a galco combat master on a don hume belt. Make sure you size your belt right for you.
