Here's an FYI guys, just to prove that not everyone on the Left Coast are total jerks ...

I just got an e-mail note from my kid that just moved down to Kuwait from Baghdad with his unit and a bunch of other troopers.

Considering how much we rant about a lot of the Tinseltown lefties, here's a guy that didn't make a big fuss about what he was doing and we heard nothing about this from his publicist.

Last night was a special screening of "Anger Management," a first-run movie. Normally, when a new movie comes out, the troops overseas have to wait for months for the film to catch up to them, usually as a third or fourth-run film with serious deterioration to the reels. To get a brand-new movie direct from the states is an unheard-of privilege.

So, of course the theater was PACKED. There were no seats left as soldiers, airmen, marines and even a couple sailors all crammed into the theater. Many were still dusty from the field. Others had returned to Camp Doha after hard fighting up north. The patches on their shoulders said it all: 101st Airborne, 3rd Infantry, 11th Signal Brigade and more. Before the house lights went down, I could hear old buddies reuniting after months or years, catching up on old times and new missions. It felt good to just be there, where everyone was relaxed for a while.

After the National Anthem played and we all took our seats, the screen flickered to life again, and there was Adam Sandler, sitting in a chair that could have been in any New York apartment. He had recorded a personal address to the troops as part of the film.

"Me and my friends are always thinking about you guys and ladies, and talking about you. We want you to stay safe and come home as soon as you can," he said. "I know you still got a lotta **** to do, but when it's all done, come home safe. I know you rather be eating, or napping... or eating while you're napping, but I just wanted to send you my new movie so that you'll get to relax and hopefully get a few laughs."

Adam Sandler had spent his own money to make sure we could catch a new movie in our down-time. As we say in the Army: Out-freakin-standing!

Seeing that reminded me that not all Hollywood actors are complete ******-bags. Some of them actually take their own time and money to help us out, even if it is only to send a movie and a message to us. Plus, the movie was hilarious. So next time you want to bash "The Water Boy" or "Little Nicky," feel free. But remember that I'd rather pay seven bucks in the states to see a movie by a guy who didn't trash his own nation than see anything with Susan "Yep, still getting' uglier" Sarandon or "Hanoi" Jane for free. Besides, when was the last time you saw Tim Robbins wrestle a blind guy for his cane? Now THAT's funny stuff.

OK it doesn't make him the new Bob Hope, but Adam Sandler gets a lifetime pass from me (unless he makes Little Nicky II then all bets are off).

Just thought a few folks should know what the guy did.

Thanks for posting this, Don. Yep - I may not like Adam Sandler's movies much, but he gets an A+ for this. I'll pass your boy's message to the API list too. We need to hear about the good guys!

Good on Sandler!

I saw this flick last weekend... It is hillarious. Adam does a fantastic job! Jack, who might not be the RKBA's best friend is also brilliant. But knowing Adam went out of his way like that...
Indeed... OUT-FREAKING-STANDING!
