The diameter of the threads (done by prev. owner) is almost 1/2 ". It seems to be 1/2" x 28.

His AK brake won't fit, and told me that it appears to be threaded for an AR-15 device.

Going to the gun show today.
Is there a good AR brake which Could work ok on the higher gas flow from a 7.62x39 AK derivative?
Muzzle climb is the main objective.

The problem you are going to have is muzzle brakes with 1/2x28 threads are made for 22 caliber bullets. Odds are he would have to drill out the hole in the baffles to make it big enough for a 30 cal bullet to pass through. Generally, the hole tends to be a bit larger than the diameter of the bullet, just in case the threads aren't concentric to the bore.

I generally just recommend these to people nowadays.

They are a fraction of the price of a name brand comp, but work almost as well. When I bought one of these, I personally couldn't feel the difference between this and my $100 Rolling Thunder comp. Good recoil reduction, muzzle neutral impluse.

His AK brake is probably metric threaded. AR's, being American, are not. And the 1/2 x 28 size issue. Plus 'almost' 1/2" isn't a half inch. You need to get that confirmed before you spend any money.
Midway lists an EGW brand brake(Midway product #: 822006) with 1/2-36 threads that's made for a 7.62 x 39 AR at $56.99. Require a smithy to install though.

On my calipers I used for reloading, four different times when checking the thread diameter, the basic numbers (like a slide rule) reads 0.5", and the precision rotary needle gauge indicates just three tiny marks ( .03 or .003) below the 1/2" index.

It was threaded Not in Romania, but by a previous owner in west TN. He sold it to my seller.

The rifle came with a WASR-style slant brake on the RH threads.
