Good, not more than $325 red dot.

My Bushnell Trophy MP is a pretty decent sight. I like the T reticle. It's no Aimpoint, but it does what it's supposed to do.

Another I've been hearing some buzz about, but with which I have no experience, is the Vortex StrikeFire.

Shop around for an Eotech

You could go with the Eotech 512, unless you need a night vision rig. You'll find one for your price range if you shop around or just add it to the purchase of your AR and I'm sure the dealer would throw in the Eotech at some discounted price.

i like the look and adjustable magnification of the millet dms-1 it's on my list of optics to buy and i think they run about 279$ but not sure

S..P.O.T. Red Dot sight. 3 or 6 MOA dot. I have a 6 MOA dot and it is nice. Not as nice as my Aimpoints, but very nice for the price.

Everyone is waiting for the Vortex sight to start shipping as well. It promises to be very good for the money according to knowledgable folks on THR.

This Burris has gotten good reviews.

Or, you could get this Aimpoint. for about what you set your limit at. I have this Aimpoint on a 1911 in .38 Super and I love it. It's not much more.

Kobras are pretty good:

I'm a combloc fan though! I think they do offer some that have the (whatever the rails are called on an ar) instead of the AK mounts.

Seriously though. Kobras are military grade red dots for consumer prices. EOTechs are better though, so if you have an extra 200usd to spend get an EOTech instead.

How about a Kobra optic? Should be 270 at most and its a top knotch optic to boot! It may be behind the eotech and aimpoint, but not by far I'm sure.
