Had the day off work and finally some cool weather here in central Fl, so decided to fire up the casting pots and make some bullets. Got 2184 done. Not bad for a day.
Just takes the right set-up. The wife and I go thru 15,000-25,000 cast bullets a year. I use two pots, a 25 lb RCBS and a 20 lb Lee and have 4 to 5 molds of each of the calibers I cast. Biggest thing I found few years ago was temp. probe from NOE Molds that installs in mold block, you do have to drill a hole. So I know at exactly what temp they will start throwing good and when they will start throwing frosted. Can pretty much cast non-stop for as long as I feel like sitting there
Good guess there USAF, 120 pounds. The mix I make is 90% lead, 6% antimony, 4% tin. As cast they weigh 385-388 gr. once sized with gas check and lube weigh 403-406 gr.
oldbear, yes I reload. Been at it for awhile, grandfather started me at 8, just sorting brass and whatever else he said. Loaded my first at 12, sized, primed, cast, with his supervision, 44-40. Tested them and killed a deer with them latter that fall. Still have the rifle and all of his equipment. Had no clue having fun with Pop would turn into such an obsession, lol.
