WASHINGTON, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- The New York Assembly's deputy GOP leader says he will run against Democratic U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer in the November election.
Howard Mills, who represents a district in Orange County, N.Y., said Wednesday: "I think I can win. We're going to be talking about Sen. Schumer's record, and that he hasn't delivered in New York. He's focused on press conferences on Sunday and not delivering on Monday."
Schumer, who is pursuing a second term, has close to $20 million in the bank, more than any other senator seeking re-election this year. Schumer was first elected to the Senate in 1998, beating Republican incumbent Alfonse D'Amato.
