I know a guy that just bought Winchester model 94 for $50. Shortly after he bought it a spring and a small metal rod fell out of the action:what:. The action no longer works smoothly (I know this is not supriosing when part fall out, but...). This is his description. I have not looked at the gun or the parts yet. He is willing to sell it to me for the $50 he has in it. Generally speaking, are model 94s expensive to repair? I know that is not a lot to go on, but for $50 bucks, I am thinking, how much can it cost?

Any insight you have would be appreciated.

As long as the gun is not some rusty pile of junk. $50 for a 94 is a great deal.

Snap it up!!!

A 94 for $50??? They're not making them any more. It's a classic. Snap it up! Even if the repairs cost, say, $100, you'd still be money ahead. If you don't like it when it's fixed you could sell it and make money.

Don't bother the seller with silly details like what is the caliber. Get all the parts that fell out if you can. Fix-it parts are available; it's handy to have the originals for comparison.

If the seller has two, buy both!!

You could sell it to me as is for $100 and make a quick $50. Of course, I'll pay all shipping and transfer fees.

I would bet big bucks that what happened is somebody stripped it down, then couldn't figure out how to reassemble it properly. Buy the gun, then take it to a gunsmith and have them strip it and reassemble it to make sure the parts are all there and in the correct spot. As mentioned, and part missing would probably be cheap, and you'll end up with a gun for $150 or so that would probably fetch $450 these days. (It used to be you'd find used plain jane 94's all over the place for $200, but since they went out of business, despite there literally being millions of 94's around, the default lowest price seems to be $450 and up these days--amazing).

I bought a nib, 94 from walmart 2 yrs. ago for $125. Since I'm a marlin man I gave it to my neighbor's kid. He's killed 2 or 3 deer with it.
