Ordered one from Buds for the heck of it. Really nice comfortable little .45. All of my fingers can fit on it it is really light. I will pass a range report on when I actually shoot it.

I share Dave R's sentiments. I actually like mine so much I bought a 2nd one. Mine are the 2nd Generation DAO models. The black one has several thousand rounds through it without any problems whatsoever. The stainless slide model has over 800 rounds and no problems. Here they are.

Just make sure when you fire it that you DO NOT USE +P rounds in this gun. I made the mistake of doing it, and surprise surprise, the gun stopped going into battery. Why? because the guide rod / recoil spring combo isn't up to the increased recoil. The recoil spring started coming OUT of the assembly and actually started coming out from underneath the barrel. I have had an order into Taurus for 4 months now on a lousy $4.85 part. They told me it shipped last week, so I will hopefully see it soon.

Please don't get me wrong, this is a great gun, just DO NOT use +P ammo in it and you will be fine.

I have a 3rd gen PT145PRO that has been 100% since shot one with over 900 rds downrange. The 2-dot sights take a while to get used to, but work fine. The SA/DA trigger is a little long, but light and smooth.

I feel it is a perfect compromise of power, size, weight, and reliability for CCW.

Enjoy your new friend, feed it often.

I have a 3rd gen as well and I'm trying to get rid of it. Papachuck BigMike wanna buy one. This is the worst gun I've ever owned. Jax watch for failures to feed, the magazines dropping out randomly while shooting, light strikes and don't even try to use hollow point because they will nosedive on the feed ramp 75% of the time. I purchased mine back in April and have had it to the range 3 times because the rest of the time Taurus has had it. My first and last Taurus.

I have a question. I was planning on purchasing one yesterday, but chose something else. The reason I did was because the Taurus seems so ridiculous to field strip. The clerk couldn't field strip it without prying the one piece away, and then the slide got jammed several times. I once owned a used Taurus PT-111 which did the same thing. I returned because of this problem. Another Taurus PT-145 did the same thing too.

Why do they do that?

Two things:

  • Do not shoot +P
  • Do not limp-wrist
Otherwise, you should be fine. Nice little .45's.
