I got a colt mkIV series 70 government model yesterday. It is the nickel plated version, but looks rough. Internally it looks as though it has been fired very little, but has a place on the slide worn and another place were someone tried to etch on it. Little rust on the frame.
Went to the gun show today and got a black trigger, bbl bushing, safety, slide stop and spring cover. Also got hogue rubber grips and two 8 round mags. Looks much better today.
I still want a high power but had to promise the wife I wouldn't buy anything else for 6 months. So I guess that means I have to get more parts for this and have fun that way.
But this thing shot like a dream yesterday. I haven't fired a 1911 in almost 20 yrs, and the first 3 shots were connected. The trigger was as smooth as my buckmark, but I did catch myself anticipating recoil a few times and pulled a few right and down.
4 guns in 3 months, am I now considered an addict?
