Someone gave me a Remington 700 ml that's a few years old. I got the plug out without too much struggle but the nipple seems to be stuck but good. I've soaked it in penetrating oil to no avail and was thinking about heating the nipple and plug with a propane torch. However I don't want to mess anything up. Will heat from the torch change anything enough to cause problems with the plug?

I used PB Blaster to get some stuck nipples out.
If you decide to use heat.....instead of a torch I would try submerging the part in boiling water or you might try a heat gun.

You may want to try a high wattage soldering iron, like a Weller, right on the nipple. If it really doesn't want to come out you may be better off just leaving it in unless it is bunged up. I have used destructive means to remove a stuck nipple, such as using a chisel and crushing it. Rethreading to a bigger size was necessary.

When ever I get a bolt, nut, screw ETC that won't budge I soak it in "Oil of Wintergreen" this stuff has never let me down. Old aircraft mech trick.

Mixture of equal parts of acetone and automatic transmission fluid works better than any commercial solution. Soak for a few hours, then moderate heat. If that doesn't work it's time for the drill and an easy out.

Just noticed the wintergreen oil post. That also works very well.

Thanks guys. I suspect before that silly thing comes loose I'll have tried all of your suggestions. LOL But at least it is clear so I can shoot it in the meantime. That is if my mold ever gets here from Midway.
