Dang-nabbed stuck case

Well, I finally did it. Got a .223 case stuck in the sizing die.

Ripped off part of the rim first time I tried to extract it. Put penetrating oil on it, heated it with the propane torch, put the die back in the press and ripped most of the rest of the rim off.

What's next? Give up and spend the $10-15 for a RCBS stuck case it?

goto ( www.surplusrifle.com/shooting/shellextractor/index.asp ) they have a home made shell extractor , and keep the heat away from your sizing die, if anything put it in the freezer. GOOD LUCK.

IMHO the stuck case remover should be purchased before dies or press. I've used this device and believe me, nothing I tried came close to the ease with which it removes stuck cases.

I have the one from RCBS with the drill bit and tap set. Works great!

Buy the stuck case remover, sooner or later it'll happen again and nothing works as well to remove that stuck case. I'd never had a problem until I tried one of those spray lubs, I had 3 in a batch of 60 cases. I don't use the sprays anymore. rugerman

Just get a suitable tap and bolt from your local HW store. Nothing to it!

I like my Lee Dies, you can use the depriming pin to punch the brass out. So, I don't have any other stuck case remover.
