Found a 1936 Remington 25-20 Model 25 in pristine condition (well maybe 85% NRA) with great bore, most of it's blue that is dull but not thin and uncracked wood that was not refinished but has a coat of clear oil on it of some kind. This little trim carbine is sweet and came with a 1/2 box of period ammo. I presume it hasn't shot much more and was cared for in some closet locally for many years. I have anouthe #2 Remington Rolling block in this caliber so reloading for it is not hard as I have dies and bullet mold and have worked up a nice 85 grain lead bullet at just over 1000FPS (subsonic and very quiet) load. Can't wait to sight it in . $750 well spent, I won't lose $ on it as the years pass . :)

VERY well spent. I also have one, but it is no where near your rifle in condition. The bore on mine is a little rough but it still shoots quarter sized groups at fifty yards. These guns are usually very accurate. Hornady makes (or used to) a wicked little 60 gr JSP that is fantastic. It has a flat point and is intended solely for the 25-20. 12 Gr. of 4227 will get you 2100 FPS. It blows up two gallon kitty litter jugs full of water as well or better than my hornet.

I scored on that ammo a couple months ago at a little Mom and Pop gun store near me. The factory load is pretty mild but it converts into some good brass. These guns are a lot of fun, you will enjoy it without a doubt.

Beautiful! I love all the old Pedersen designed Remingtons, have a 14 myself in .32 Rem.

.25-20 is a neat little round. One of these days I'll have a lever in that caliber, might even build it.

Indeed, money well spent! First rifle I ever shot (and went hunting with), was a Remington pump action.

I'm starting to think you have a time machine in your garage.

Yeah I'm thinking the same thing!

Of course, I believe this applies to anyone who finds some well preserved firearm from some bygone era!

Fantastic find! The first rifle I ever shot (and went hunting with), was a Remington pump action. Always have a soft spot for that gun. Thanks for sharing!

well regarding my penchant for vintage arms in the golden years of US gun manufacturering : thats what I specialize in the last 50 years . I do have some ARs an high tech accuracy stuff ect, but most of the hi cap stuff is out of Ca. to relatives as we speak. I have culled my collection the last 5 or so years getting rid of all the valuable antiques first (pre 1895 or so ) as I didn't fire them so heck $ money out of them before SHTF and nobody would buy. That strategy worked fairly well. THEN it was on to the what I considered overpriced hot sellers, first early Winchesters like 42s and 73s and 92s. . At that time dumped Pythons and Diamondbacks ect and gen 1 Colt SAA and my martial Lugers. ect. I did sell a Remington 14 1/2 44-40 police marked pump carbine that was in decent "rack grade" shape for $1700 on Gunbroker about 3 years ago :( along with a .410 and 12 ga Skeet superposed Belgian Browning and similar stuff for long bread . I recently got that real nice Marlin 27 32-20 pump, I have a repro .45 Colt Lightning pump I bought with the money I got from the Remington 14 1/2 44-40 (which I never reloaded for) , I have a like new Model 141 Remington .35 out of 3 prior ones that were NOT as pristine and one was D&T & scoped for hunting that I traded off after years of use. I still have a .351 Winchester Carbine that is very nice and Police marked , because I like it ! And lots of other stuff. I like stuff from about 1907 to as late as 1999 but after that , not so much. I consider 1904 to 1964 our "Glory years" of gun manufacturing.

Nice "cover" story my friend. You almost had me believing you were a discriminating collector and connoisseur of vintage classic firearms.

So tell us, what is time travel really like?

I had a nice one in 25/20 for a time too.

I bought it to go with my S&W M-19 revolver also chambered in 25/20, but I didn't like the rifle as well as I thought I would and sent it down the road.

I do still have the revolver though.
