Just checked the mail and found a wonderful little package in the box!

Ordered mine directly from Matt. He signed it with a neat little message. Totally awesome!

Thanks Matt, I can't wait to get into it!

:D

Mine arrived today from Amazon, using the free shipping option.

I have a question--what happened to the image of the big horn sheep skull? That image in Matt's signature was the reason I read the first book, because it was just so cool-looing.

Just went to amazon and what do you know my wife has this "one click" thing set up. So I click the "one click" and bingo its on its way. once this bad boy gets here I am going to bed early each night to read. I'll have to keep checking in on nightcrawler in the mean time.....

Hey guys...

For those of us who don't know, could you give a brief description of what the book is about?

It looks interesting.

Just got mine today from Amazon. I've been reading it all day. Except for brakes to get up off the couch cause my back starts hurting so sitting here feel good. When I ordered mine from Amazon a few days ago it first said not available when I looked it up under the name of the book but when I searched under Matthew Bracken it was available. Don't know why. Try that.

Kim's right about Amazon.

I tested it myself... Searched for Domestic Enemies and added it to the cart; Amazon told me the book wasn't available. Searched again for "Matthew Bracken" and using that link to add the book to the cart, everything seemed to go through okay.

Weird. :scrutiny:

Here's the link for the Amazon page that does work: Domestic Enemies: The Reconquista

;)

Yep...about a hundred pages into it, and I'm already anticipating the third installment  :)

Ok, that last link worked.

When you order from Amazon, it gives me six other books and says "People who bought XXXX also bought these books. When I did it this time, I already owned all six of those recomended books.:D

Creeping Incrementalism:

I was going with the cow skull/rifle logo a while back, to sort of keep the cover design similar to EFAD's Gadsden snake/rifle design, but in the end I decided not to use it. From my point of view, the main purpose of the cover is to help to sell the book, and to do that it must (1)be very clearly understandable even at thumbnail size, and (2) it must convey some of the meaning or content of the book at a glance. The EFAD Gadsden snake/rifle logo clearly tells a reader at one glance that the book is about guns and the RKBA.

However, in the end I thought that the cow skull/rifle logo didn't do this effectively. It could have been, for example, another Tony Hillerman mystery set in New Mexico. It conveyed "Southwestern" but not the entire idea of the reconquista of "Aztlan" and so on.

I think that this cover design is not as "artistic" as the cow skull, but it better communicates what the book is about. Folks surfing the internet may spend five seconds looking at a 2" high thumbnail image of a cover, and to me, the cover needs to clearly communicate what the book is about in that five seconds. That's why I went with the "torn USA" design.

Another book I can recommend is: "A Well Regulated Militia" by John Carpenter. The reason I mention it is that it came up as a recomendation for people buying Matt's book.
John Carpenter is an avid shooter and very pro 2A. I have taken a couple classes with him at Frontsight. He is also the moderator of another on-line shooting related forum.

He he he... The greatest dilemna I face right now is do I read Enemies Domestic The ReConquista or A Well Regulated Militia
next...:banghead: any suggestions?????

I hope that The Reconquista is better than his original Enemies Foreign and Domestic. EFD read more like a first draft. Don't get me wrong, I read it cover to cover but ir really needed work IMHO.

Matt said mine was shipped 8/11. probably someone in the post office reading it first. I need a Ranya fix....:D

On page 440

Ranya puts the fix on so many people in this book.
I am looking forward to the next one now!
Matt how soon befor the State of Florida recognises you as resident so you can get the non cali er atzlan DOJ aproved long and side arms?

I just read Enemies Foreign and Domestic over the last 3 days while in GA on business. I was going to start a thread on how great I thought that it was and come to find out he has another book out! I just ordered it! Kind of strange though that amazon says that the delivery date is SEPT 11-Sept 16!

I just finished reading "A Well Regulated Militia" by John Carpenter. Overall, it was definitely a good read and very frightening to think about a terrorist scenario like that described occurring.
I'm really looking forward to Enemies Domestic. It should hopefully be here tomorrow.
I'll also recommend a book for sci-fi lovers: Freehold by Michael Z. Williamson It's so good, I ordered an autographed copy of it and the sequel from him the day I finished reading it the first time. (Read it again when they arrived in the mail.)
