All original, since we dont need to change anything. I couldnt get a Vz 58, and an original AK with the happy switch disabled would've cost about 1K Euro's or ¬1500 USD.

It is still a hoot to shoot, though given the wierd legislation in France I have to begin reloading.

nice. I handled one at a gunshop yesterday and it feels lighter than the WASR next to it.

It feels like an airsoft gun... only cheaper. ;)
But is fun to shoot, with virtually no recoil.

Not familiar with the VZ-858. It looks like a standard Vz-58, barrel < 16" and all.

How does it differ?

Nice acquisition at any rate.

What legislation in France are you referring to, regarding reloading/ammo?

you are right, and yes it is weird; the vz's were made with a milled receiver, yet they are about 1lb or so lighter than a regular ak. the czechs' new what they were doing...

The 858 is the civillian version of the 58. No happy switch, even though the internals are pretty much the same.

Fewer parts than a AK, and is actually a completely different rifle with no interchangeable parts including magazines.

The turnbolts are a Savage 10 and Savage 12 in 6mm BR and 22-250 respectively. The pistol is a Cz 75 in 9mm.
