Got Me a Sig!!

Picked up my P229 in .357SIG yesterday, and man, this thing is a bear! Haven't shot it yet, actually have never shot .357SIG before. It's pretty heavy weight-wise, but reassuring because it seems like a solid gun and I've heard excellent reviews. Also, 357SIG is a formidable round for self defense, and the cartridge looks cool too. Anyone know if COR-BON ammo is good or junk? Thanks.

You're gonna love it. Out of the P229, it's very controllable but you know you're cracking off something a lot hotter than a 9mm. Shoots like a laser and you have the option of buying a drop-in .40 barrel for cheaper shooting and a little more variety.

I like Cor-Bons in .357 Sig, I've been using the 115 grain load in my P226 which they claim hits 1,500 fps. I've had good luck with almost all brands in .357 Sig except UMC. Avoid that junk like the plague.

The Canned Heat for practice is great stuff at a reasonable price, and I have used the Sheer Power Plus Gold Dots for carry.

first trip to the range with the sig

this thing is a freakin bear. i fired about 150 rounds through it, every time i pulled the trigger the entire range lit up and it sounded like an earthquake. my buddy shot it a few times while i was trying my XD-9 in the next bay, and the rounds in the plastic thingy from the box were shaking from the pressure wave. i also knocked this plastic knob off one of the bay walls. totally sweet, what a badass gun/round.

I have found UMC FMJs to be an inexpensive practice load.

For defensive ammo, I like Speer Gold Dot products.

My opinion of Cor-Bon is that, while generally good stuff, they will have faulty batches -which they fail to recall or inform the consumer.

i was using UMC loads this time, they were ok. i'm a big fan of hydrashoks, but the range didnt have any, so i got some federal JHP Premiums to replace the cor-bons. the cor-bons will be used at the range next time, and ill load up with the federals for defensive purposes.

I myself have a P226 9mm and a P220ST. Due to the incredible performance and quality of these pistols a new P228 is also on the way. When I get the chance my next gun is going to be one in .357 SIG. P226, P229 or SIGPRO. I rely on people like you to keep the interest in this round going strong. So by the time I get mine, .357 SIG rounds will (hopefully) be cheaper and more prevalent.

SIGs are some of the finest modern auto pistols I ever had the pleasure to own. I still appreciate other brands but I've basically lost interest in acquiring them. I'd rather get the other SIGs first But that also doesn't mean I'm gonna give up my Glocks either.

357SIG is great, except ammo is hard to come by---even on the internet. local gun shops have little to none, ammoman.com and Natchess don't have much either.

I have the SIG 239 in 357, a very snotty round! I got a 40 barrel for mine because 40 is less expensive and more readily available than 357 so practice is more affordable. I love my 239, I'm thinking about getting one in 9mm.

Zorba, how would you say felt recoil compares in the two calibers? I have a 239 in .40 and I'm considering getting the .357 barrel/mags for it.

BTW I've owned a 239 in 9mm, and it's a pussycat. It puts the roll in controllable.
