As the thread title states I just got my first SIG not too long ago. It is a slighty used (about 170 rounds) P226R (.45ACP) that I paid about $400 for. It came with 2 magazines and a few boxes of ammo for that price too. Anyways the gun seems to be in excellent shape, but I have not yet taken it to the range. I will be taking it soon for my first shooting session with it and I was wondering if any of you fellow SIG owners or previous owners could tell me what I should look for on my first time out with it. Also, I know it was cleaned right before I bought it, but it has been in its case untouched for several months now due to me having to leave the country, getting married, moving into a new house etc. I just have not had the time for it at all. Anyways do you guys think I should field strip it again before going to the range with it then recleaning it when I get home or do you think it will be fine as it is and then clean it after my first session wth it? This is my first SIG and I do not know a whole hell of a lot about them so anyone that can tell me stuff I should look for when shooting this gun then please let me know. It came with some 165 grain Cor-bon ammo which I am actually afraid to shoot LOL. What do you guys think about shooting a few rounds of this stuff at the range? Obviously, I have some cheaper ammo with it too, but I have never shot with this before and am wondering how it performs. Ironically, I am also scared to fire this stuff LOL. Seems like it is going to have a kick from hell.
