It's a nearly new 98 DAC, mag safety was removed by previous owner. I like the feel, this was the first BHP/clone I've shot. I popped off a few rounds at the dealer's place just to make sure it cycled ok. I can't say I'm too happy with the trigger. DA is heavy and looong. SA is a little gritty and has a decent amount of creep and takeup. Hopefully it'll break in and smooth out but for now the trigger on my Bulgarian Mak is much nicer.

Heavy double action and gritty single action pulls seem to be common for the HiPower and its clones. These problems can usually be fixed with a trigger job.

I own 2 Arcus 98 DAC's. I have put 700+ rounds through one and 400+ through the second.
First:I bought them brand new, they didn't come with a mag safety from the factory.
Secondly: Have you broken it down aand cleaned it? I broke both down fully before the first round was fired. I then used Molly Fussion and the action is smooth as butter:cool: .
Now the packaging from the factory is just plain nasty. The plastic molding the weapon sits in is covered with this nasty flocking that got everywhere.
All I can say is that if you took the weapon out and shot it without cleaning it then you may still have that crap from the box it came in.

I like the Arcus 98 DAC. I've had 3 miss fires, each time was due to the round. I use Pro Mags mags, all ten rounders, and they are awesome.

Strictly speaking the DA Arcus isn't a Hi-Power clone. They do make a SA Arcus too... It is on my list of "guns to watch for if I see one cheap enough.."

Everytime I see a pic of those Arcus pistols, it makes me want one even more..I wonder if AIM Surplus still has some left...

How suitable are they for custom work? I know they usually cost less than $300, but I'm still curious..

I bought my Arcus's from Century International Arms http://centuryarms.com/store/ for $259 through my FFL.

AIM only has the 94's where as CIA has the 94's and 98's.

I carry my Arcus in the waist, shoulder and open.

I'm going to be painting the slide on one of them with some KG Koting soon.

For the price and how well they work for me I'd buy another 98 DAC!
