And it only took 5 months! Let's hear it for the great folks at the BATFE.

I send the application in back in November, and had more or less forgotten about it. It finally dawns on me that I should've received the permit months ago, so I call the NLC. I spoke to the representative for Virginia, who tells me my approved application has been sitting on her desk for two and a half months but she couldn't figure out how to process the credit card payment. She agrees to ask her supervisor for help in processing the CC payment; I receive the permit three days later.

Isn't bureaucracy amusing?

I'm in the process of applying now. Using your lesson, I think that I'll pay with a MO.

By the way, do you still make payment to the BATF, or is there a new payee since that agency got kicked over to the DOJ?

I don't know, I paid with a credit card :D Just rest assured that whomever you make the MO out to, it'll be wrong. I still like the idea of paying with a credit card since merchant fees mean the Feds are getting less of my money than if I paid via any other means.

To make sure you're submitting everything that's required (like the citizenship form), I'd advise that you have the ATF/NLC send you the actual forms (rather than downloading them). See here for details.

I got my C&R license last week after almost 4 months of waiting. After I called Atlanta about it, I received it in just 2 working days. Sometimes you have to call them to "remind" them about your application, it seems. The lady I talked to (who was very nice, by the way) said a lot of people had been calling about C&R's.

I sent my payment in the form of a personal check written to Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. I also put my SSN in the memo section.

Guess I was lucky, as mine only took a month and I got it last week. I've sent out about 40 copies so far and will probably start buying stuff later this week! :)

Sent my app off last week!

I wonder how long it will take to process. I have also applied for and been designated a collector in Maryland which exempts me from the one gun a month clause! I have already exercised my right ;) . Mrsbigjoegood1 is gonna have my hide when we get the credit card bill.

Congrats.

Now get to making copies and sending them to all the C&R companies you plan on buying from.

And dont forget to send them to MidwayUSA and Brownells for dealer discounts.

Mine took about 60 days and I just received it at the end of last month - and have already emptied my 'gun box' twice over on Sistemas ;)

I suggest you wait about 10 days after you send it and call them.

Then wait another 20-30 days and call them.

Then call about every week until it gets to you.

Mine was 'stalled' at several points and a phone call got it moving again (was back of the stack, over on her other desk, in another folder, etc.)

The woman that handles Virginia is very polite...just needs a little nudge now and then to get her moving the right direction.;
