If anyone is interested in the latest time line...

Sent documentation and payment (credit card) on May 4.

Bank processed payment on June 19.

Permit arrived today, approximately 5 1/2 months later.

Interestingly, the letter sent with the permit stated "this permit is valid contingent on a satisfactory criminal history report being received from the FBI".

I thought the background check was the bottleneck in the first place. Apparently the delay has more to do with heavy volume than anything else.

So for anyone still waiting, be patient...

Utah refers to it as "Concealed Firearm Permit". My understanding is they make no distinction between out-of-state or resident permits; they are one and the same.

You must take a class from an instructor who has been certified by the state in order to obtain the permit.

And you're in SC? So UT accepts out of state applicants...sorry to beat a dead camel to death.
Yes. UT is a close second to FL as far as "awesomeness" of their CHP/CCW. UT is cheaper than FL too. All the cool kids have them.

^ I would say that it surpasses the awesomeness of the FL permit now that NV is on the reciprocity list and because their CCW records are not public record (unlike FL)

I turned in my papers to BCI on June 14 and received my permit on September 21. And I live in the state! From what I understand the wait is much longer for out-of-staters.

"I must say I'm a bit surprised. I never thought that the NGC would ever let tourists into casinos with guns."

The state does, but a lot of the casinos now post that you can't carry on their premises. Harrah's casino for one.
