and had to ship it the factory 10 minutes later... :cuss: :banghead: :what:  :cuss:  :barf: :uhoh: etc...
the gun was in a sealed box from the factory ... we opened the box and i knew something was wrong as soon as it came out of the wrapper ...
the recoilspring guide was sticking out a 1/4" with the gun in battery...
the gun came apart very hard and strongly resisted reassembly in any fashion .. ...
so we shipped it back diassembled ...
can someone explain wtfh is going on ?
of the last 20 pistols /revolvers i have purchased 16 have been either simply or grossly defective in some manner... :cuss: :banghead:  :scrutiny:
the only things that have worked flawlessly have been the 442 , the PO1 , the PX9109L (before the extractor went south)and the P90....
i thinks i is be cursed somehow ... :(  :what: :uhoh: :p :barf:

Have you ever thought about swords?

Have you bought all 16 from the same place? If so maybe the vender is selling seconds or something to that effect. Other than that 16 out of 20 guns is a huge anomoly.

Chris

A defective Sig :what: It must be a curse as you said. Look in the local paper for VooDoo priestesses that lost their homes in the quarter and are now living in your area. Surely one of them can remove this evil curse.

Maybe you should switch to long guns.

Darn. I guess you should have bought what you'll eventually end up with. A Glock 30.

no glocks...

i like my fingers where they are...

That's what I'm thinking might be the problem. Also, were all the guns new with normally good reputations? I can't think of any reason besides dealer shenanigans or buying mostly garbage for a 80% failure rate.

guns are ordered direct from either RSR or davidsons ...

they arrive in factory sealed boxes , brands incl , ruger (6) S&W (2) SA (7)SIG (1)...
all boxes were opened by me , the dealer does not open the boxes...
fups include no chambers in cyl (ruger) , crushed barrels (S&W) bad extractors (SA) unknown (SIG) 3.5" barrel in 4" slide (SA) and other bs too numerous to list ...
these are NOT refurbs or seconds ... :cuss: :banghead: :barf:  :uhoh:

Boy you got some bad luck ive heard of a few odd ball problems but nothing liek that extractors on springfields are well know ive never had a problem though

I would have loved to see the Cylinder with no holes must of been so you could make a custom Gun

HD,

I think I have an idea what went wrong. I've noticed that the same happens when after cleaning I reassemble my KP89 the wrong way.

The slide return spring is conical, and only one way is the correct way to put it back together. If I do not, the guide jumps out when I pull back the slide.

The same happens if I put back the spring correctly, but misplace the butt of the guide against the back of the barrel. The guide has to rest against the movable ear of the tilting barrel, rather than the base of the barrel itself.

If done correctly, the reassembly works like a charm. I am new at this, so sometimes I goof off.

Anyway, my guess is that is what was wrong with the sig - incorrect assembly. Putting it back together was probably hard because of preserving grease. Pity that you sent it back at once. I'd be interested to know if cleaning and correct assembly would have fixed the problem.

Good luck!

I have only bought 2 brand new guns (a Steyr S40 and a RRA AR15) but the rest used ... I've never bought a defective gun.

Maybe thats the advantage to buying used ... most used guns are almost new (lots of people buy guns, take them to the range a couple of times and then toss them in the safe) but they have also been sent back to the factory and fixed if need be.

the thing is ... it was assembled and testfired in this condition at the factory...

the spring and guide were the correct one for the 245 , i think they put the wrong locking block in the frame ...(maybe?)
what ever it was it wasn't right when i opened the box ...
and i have owned i think its 16 sigs now , so it shouldn't have been a problem to reassemble it (the spring was on right)...
i am fed up with this bs anyway , no more ...
i will be calling sig tomorrow to get a reponse to all this nonsense...
