All kidding aside, it's what the owner wants that counts and what they like. That's all that matters.
Personalizing a gun is a fun and makes it unique to the owner and to others. Why not? Many guns have embellishments and are heavily engraved.
Like collecting guns, it may not have value ,but means something to the owner. If the gun is a conversation piece, gets a lot of notice, and works, one can not ask for more than that.
