The mag is polymer and and will stand up to even the worst abuse.

Polymer = Plastic.

No, it won't stand up to the worst abuse. But thats not the problem. Its durability is on par with other mags. The problem is that if it does fail, it is very expensive to replace, and not particularly easy to find.

This should provide me with enough brass to start reloading.
The 139gr Scenar has 0,615 in BC, thats decent for of the shelf ammo.

Nice, Wood stocked rifles...

That is nice, Tikka is made by people that love nice rifles.

I'm just about to receive a custom Mauser in 6.5 x55, awesome cartridge.

Add me to the list of jealous non-owners.

Mausers aint bad either :D
Not much to complain about with the 6,5x55.
Going to use yours for hunting?

Fitted a harris bipod today. Only got a cellphone pic.

All set for som long range shooting this weekend. 8)

Tested the rifle yesterday.
First at 200 meters then at 350, not enough time to do long range.

Target at 200m:

The target from 350m:

I shot 30 rounds and my friend who also tested the rifle shot 10.
Both need a lot more triggertime :scrutiny:

Got me a new scope, Sightron SIII 10x42 mildot.

Both at 100m

I like everything about the Tikka, except for the fact that they are only made on long actions, even for short action cartridges, and they come with a really cheezy plastic mag that is very expensive to replace.
Yes I bought those 5 rnd magazine clips at $69.95 each for 30.06.

I bought the Tikka 3 light in 30.06 and put on a Nikon Bushmaster scope with BDC. Guaranteed 3 inch groupings at 100 yards if I remember correctly.

3 INCH groups ?? LOL :D That would be nice grouping for an AK-47, but I think Tikka guarantees something considerably tighter, like maybe 3/4", I can't remember exactly either.
I know mine in .308 will consistently shoot the plastic caps off of juice bottles at 100 yards.

that would be 3 shots in a one inch group . i know this to be true. mine will even do better then that

I LOVE my tikka T3 stainless in 6.5x55 my fav rifle of all time. Everyone who has shot it wants one too, it is crazy accurate, light, mild mannerd, egronomic, wether resistant, and an absolute joy to shoot. No need for a big magnums for deer hunting, the little 6.5 will drop any of them like a bad habbit.

So a 30.06 is still the more powerful cartridge than the 6.5?

True but the 06 is an overkill for whitetail in the hands of a good shooter. You can quickly kill any deer that ever walked with a 6.5x55. I have never tracked anything shot with mine ever so how much more power do you really need? At that point it is a matter of personal prefrence and I just perfer the 6.5 over my 270 win, 308, 7mm Rem mag, and 270 WSM.

More range bigger game Plus in 30.06 you have lots of different choices and price ranges of ammo.

1st off I buy good 6.5x55 ammo for $13 a box so price of ammo is a non issue.
2nd I handload so selection of factory loads is a non-issue
3rd with the higher BC of the 6.5mm bullets I carry a higher % of energy to longer ranges then .30 cal hunting bullets.
4th there is nothing in the lower 48 that I could not ethicly hunt with a 6.5x55 in Europe they are the #1 choice for very large game like moose.
I don't see how the 06 would have any real advantage over the 6.5x55 for a handloader unless you just perfered the 06.

No to mention its the cheapest brass and factory ammo from Lapua.
Almost recoil free and gives good speed with 140grain bulltes.
And its sexy looking :D
Just look at it next to the ugly 223 ;)
