My Grandma decided to give me one of my papa's .22 rifles today. I was excited because my papa was my hero. The gun is a Remmington Score master 511 model. Its seen better days, but still nice to have none the less because it was his. My Granny told me he just used it to plink around with down in the fields, cans and what not. I've never owned an old gun before, and I don't know much about it. She told me from the best of her knowledge the gun was produced from the late 30's to the mid 60's. It has a detatchable 6 round mag. I'm trying to determine the age of it and see if it has any value.I'd never sell it because Its going to be fun to plink around with something, that papa used to get the same type joy.
I noticed it does not have a serial number on it. It has patent numbers but not a serial number.
It does have the letters xtt stamped on it on the left of the barrel just in front of the reciever. Any one familiar with this make and model? Also why would the gun not have a serial number on it?
