My girlfriend scored some .380 finally after months and months. She was in Maine at the Kittery trading post and asked the clerk if they had .380, the clerk told her that they had some but they were only selling it to people who bought a .380 ....you believe that BS :cuss:. She started arguing with the clerk telling him she had just bought an LCP there last week and she should be able to buy some...he proceeded to tell her that if it was in last week then she would have been offered it. of course i was with her then and they didnt have the .380. finally a manager came over and she told him that between her and I we had bought a 9mm a .22 and a .380 in the last month, finally they gave in and she bought two boxes of 50 FMJ for 20 bucks each. I am at work now and havent seen what brand of ammo it is but i am damn excited just to score some. I can't believe they are only selling it to people who buy a .380 though. that type of business makes me never want to but anything there ever again...:fire:

I would be a bit upset also, even if i hadnt bought a gun there.
But when you have bought several and get that id buy what i could and never return.

My local shop let me trade 2 boxs of .40 in for .45acp since i was low on that, and i did it with no reciept and the guy i went threw had no idea i had just bought 2 guns there this past month either.I really like dealing with them, even tho i overpaid for a Glock but that was my fault.

Not really surprised to hear that, I was at a gun show a few months ago and asked a dealer about a box of .380's he had in a display case w/pistols. He would not sell them as they were for someone whom might buy the .380 pistol he had for sale.:scrutiny: LM.

Personally, I don't blame them. The .380 and 9mm shortage has gotten pretty nutty. FYI, Riley's had a few boxes of .380 Gold Dots (loaded) for aprox. $30 a couple of weeks ago.

I reload for many cartridges, including .380. If not, I would not have any practice rounds for my little Beretta 85FS nor one of my Commercial Russian Makarov factory chambered for .380. That is ridiculous!

My local walmart is WELL stocked for everything except .380. They have 550 round bricks of .22s, 100 round boxes of WWB 9mm, .38, .40 and .45. Heck they even have a few boxes of .32 and .357...but not a single box of .380 in the store!

I managed to bump into 500 rounds of WWB .380 in a Walmart a few weeks ago...I guess I got lucky.

usp9, if you see this (and don't mind me asking), what was the wally world price for a box where you are?

I'm assuming that it wasn't 70 bucks a box!

Let that be a lesson to the shop then to never tell anyone they have 380 until a person buys one. I call that a good practice to keep it away from the hoarders. I can live with a shop holding back their ammo if it keeps it out of the filthy hoarders hands.

I think it was $32 and change for the 100 round box down near Quantico, VA. Same price as pre-Obama.

I haven't bought ammo all summer. I reloaded about 1900 rounds of 9mm and 400 rounds of 380 in the spring. I still have 150 bullets to reload for 380 so I can do some practice. I am SOOOO glad I started reloading.
( I also bought a 7mm RemMag this year and I've shot about 250 rounds through it already. I just reloaded 50 rounds last night so i can do some shooting next week.)

I just scored 1000 rounds off Walmart as I had prepaid for a case about last summer and just now get to go shoot my LCP! I have been holding onto the single box of Rangers I scored at the last gun show for $29 saw some in the store yesterday for $60/box!

I just scored 4 boxes here in Houston...well, the store had a 2 box limit so I picked up 2 and she picked up 2 as well.

What a wonderful feeling to actually be able to practice with my CCW.

YEAH! 'Cause nobody buys ammo for their guns unless they are hoarders! Not like ammo is a consumable item or anything...

I just got 3 boxes of PMC bronze 90 grain FMJ ball rounds for $16.99 each at a gun / grocery store in Harrisburg, Ark. Pretty sweet since one of the gun stores here in my town had 5 boxes of Remington ball rounds for $39.99 the exact same day.

Thanks to everyone who had posted good info on here. I have been reading for awhile but never posted before.

Thanks for the reply usp9. At that price, I would have been pretty happy.

I'll have to join the club and stake out wally world...

ammo

I saw some .380 for sale on www.ammoman.com
and I have noticed that the prices for all the calibers are starting to drop. The price they have listed is delivered. I can't believe how much we are being gouged over ammo.

Don't buy. Just wait it out a few months and save yourself some grief and cash.

But if you have enough disposable income, the ammo retailers would like to sell you overpriced ammo still!

That can be my only logical response to "I will only sell X to someone that buys Y here."

What a failure at running a successful business; I will sell anything to anyone that has the cash for said item.

she bought two boxes of 50 FMJ for 20 bucks

If anyone around here sold .380 for that price, someone would buy it all up and you would see it for sale at a gun show for $50-$60 a box.

If .380 is hard to get and his stock is running low it makes sense to only sell it to .380 gun buyers. Who wants to buy a gun that you can't get ammo for.

I completely understand the dealer's position. Who would buy a gun for which they could buy no ammo? I would save the ammo for gun buyers as well as long as the situation is like it is.

Yeah, and give them grief when they buy TWO guns and come back the next week for the ammo. Great philosophy!~

Why would they stock a gun that there is no ammo for? Because people WANT them. Ammo is a secondary concern. And treating your past customers with "you gotta buy another gun to get 50 more rounds of ammo"??? I'm putting that motto on my plaque above the customer entrance.

(No I don't have a business. Prolly cause I can't be a jerk to customers)
