JPFO ALERT: States Finally Waking Up to Real ID
They're only about two years behind, but it seems that
some states are finally taking the Real ID threat
seriously.
Back in May of 2005, JPFO issued an alert entitled
"The End of America: May 10, 2005" in which we detailed
the disastrous effect the federally-mandated Real ID
law would have on your privacy. You can read that alert

Of course, many opponents of Real ID were dismissed as
paranoid nuts. Two years later, though, many state
legislatures -- including those of Arizona, Georgia,
Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Hampshire,
Oklahoma, Utah, Vermont and Wyoming, among others -- have
begun passing laws or adopting resolutions declining to
participate in this federal identification network scheme.
It should be noted that in many cases, this opposition
does not stem from a burning desire for individual freedom
and privacy. Rather, many states are upset because the feds
aren't providing any funding for the necessary technology
upgrades to implement the program. Nevertheless, opposition
to this invasive, defacto internal passport for ANY reason
is cause to celebrate.
