Wow!
Yesterday I got to shoot PvtPyle's LAR. I watched him shoot it a few times first, and I have got to say that the muzzle blast from that thing is very impressive. After a few shots, there was a large group of earthworms and catepillers evacuating the area.
I was a bit nervous the first time that I shot it, as you hear all of the stories of how fierce the recoil is. Whatever, recoil was not bad at all. Seriously it felt about the same as shooting an 870 with magnum slugs. Not soft, but not unbearable at all. With good technique I see no reason that you couldn't shoot this thing all day long.
Like we talked about in the previous thread, I accepted the challenge (dare) and shot the .50 standing up. It wasn't hard at all, recoil actually was milder since the shoulder had room to give as opposed to absorbing it all while you are prone. The main problem was that the gun was 32 pounds and extreamly muzzle heavy. Sure I could hold it up, but aiming through a 10x scope is tough like that. Finally I would just put the recticle over the target and pull the trigger as it fell through. When you miss, it digs huge divots out of the backstop.
We didn't need a spotter to call hits on the long range rocks we were shooting at. Misses resulted in a cloud of brown dust, hits resulted in a cloud of white dust as the rocks were pulverized.
I've got to get me one of these things.
