Anyone shot their GP100 with both sizes of the older style Lett grips? I have the larger size on mine and I am considering getting the smaller version since the Ruger site is offering them again. I have medium-large hands (at least in a golf glove size) and my gun is a 5" barrel. A slightly smaller grip would also help my wife shoot it better (Geez, she already out shoots me) since her hands are small. Any recommendations?

I have my GP100 set up with the smaller grip. My hands are on the large size, and this means I'm curling my pinky under the bottom. It's not the high grip that's so fashionable these days, but it gets my middle finger away from the trigger guard and it gives me a better angle for my trigger finger.

I got the green wood inserts from a gentleman on the Ruger forum that makes them.

When this photo was taken I had the read sight removed, and the front sight filed down, to use the rear sight channel as a wide fixed sight. This trick worked well with my blackhawk but I decided to put the sights back on the GP. Nice thing about this revolver is that the front sights are cheap and available in all different colors, they just pop in and out.

I have both grips for the GP100. I have the small Lett on my 3" and have tried it on my 4" and 6". I like the compact grip on the 3" and 4", but not the 6"

I found the Uncle Mikes grip for the GP100, and think its about perfect. Its a full size with finger grooves, but its thinner than the big original Lett grip. They are discontinued, but can be picked up off Ebay for around $25. Its a good choice.

Thank you for your feedback. The smaller Lett's look great on the 3" guns and I assume looks a bit strange on anything longer. The thinner Uncle Mikes might just be the ticket. Was it form or function that did not work on the longer barrels?:)

For me... it was probably both form, and function. The compact grip just doesnt look right on the 6". Plus, it isnt a complete 3 finger grip for me. Its like 2 1/2 fingers. The longer, nose heavy barrel just doesnt feel right without full support from the pinky finger.

I swapped the larger for the smaller on mine. I have large but slender hands. The compact version offers plenty of purchase for me. Plus, I like the look better.

I only have the full size Lett grip on my 6" full underlug GP100. I have smallish hands*, but with all that muzzle weight the full size grip works just fine and I don't have trouble reaching the hammer or trigger.

*hands that fit a CZ 75 but not a Beretta 92.

Compact, Standard and Hogue

I've used both Letts, and think the smaller is ideal on a gun carried concealed, and it fits my hands well.

But on my four-inch GP, I use Pachmayr's s Gripper. I think it's perfect on that gun.

I tried several sets of Uncle Mike's but none fit the frame just right.

Don't like Hogue grips, and the Pachmayr handles recoil better for me, anyway.

I' ve found Uncle Mike's to fit the frame better on S&W guns than on Rugers.
