I want a gp 100 (NIB). My wife will get it for me for Christmas, but a lot of the stores and web sites only have it with the hogue monogrip. I really want the rosewood inserts. Are they getting phased out or will they still be available later in the year?

The new GPs only come with Hogue grips. The company that made the old grips closed down. The insert grips are still available on ebay and I think you can still by them from Ruger. I suggest you go ahead and buy some because pretty soon they will be harder to find.

As much as I like Hogue grips, the GP100 just doesn't look right without the rosewood inserts. I still see a few new ones with the rosewood grips.

A better man than I, waiting 5 months for a GP100. After I shot one, I was able to wait a week. Of course it was over New Year's, and I was in another state most of the time.

Christmas in July?

UPDATE! My wife read this thread and was convinced that the prudent thing to do would be go ahead and get the gun. I agreed!!!It's being ordered and I can pick it up at my local shop next week. Does anyone have any recommendations for a personal defense load. The gun will mostly be carried when I go out to check animals or deer scout. I may carry it in the truck. Thanks
