Just thought you guys might like to know Graf And Sons has their brand of BP in stock. Not made by Goex this time but by someone named Wano.

"Manufactured for Graf & Sons by Wano Schwarzpulver GmbH, Imported by Schuetzen Powder LLC".

The price is up from the previous Grafs house brand powder but anymore thats not really a surprise is it? Anyway get it while you can.

Thats not really much more than i paid for Goex about a year ago. It was like 20 per pound.

I just ordered 10 pounds of it to be split between me and my bud. It works out with all the shipping fees to $28 per pound. Thats sure a lot more than the $6-8 per pound I used to pay 2.5 decades ago when I started shooting BP. According to the inflation calculator an $8 can of powder in 1988 should cost $19.01 today. But back then I could buy it right from the gun store without the silliness of having to order it on line. It is what it is.

Not a bp shooter but most of my cartridges could use it in a pinch. If I were to compromise a single BP for use in 38 sp/357, 45colt & 45-70 (not ideal- I know), which would I pick?

If I had to choose a single powder to spread across a number of different cartridges my pick would be FFFg, but if all you could find was FFg, it will work fine too, just not optimal for velocity in short barrel, small case capacities.

I use 3F in my 12ga shotguns, 62 and 54 rifles, and handguns. You just need a little less than you'd use for a 2F load. It burns cleaner and cost less to shoot. In my 12ga 1oz loads only 70grs is needed. That gives me a 100 loads out of 1 pound of powder, or 4 boxes of shells.

The 4lb minimum is sort of killing me. I don't need that much. A pound would last me several years, 4lbs is likely a life time supply unless my interests change.
If you have some friends that shoot BP too, go in together and order. That way you spread the shipping and haz mat fee out.

I forgot to thank you for heads up. Order in and delivered.

You are certainly welcome. I also ordered 10 pounds but I don't think they have even shipped it yet and I ordered as soon as it was in stock. ???

UPDATE

Just got an email showing the powder was shipped today and should be here by the 23rd. Next Wednesday. Yippee!!!

Maybe not. If you are shooting a BP revolver in 44 caliber and loading 30grs in each chamber thats just under 39 gun loads per pound. Or about like 4.5 boxes of handgun ammo. If you shoot a rifle and use a 70gr load thats 100 shots per pound of powder. Use a 90gr load like I sometimes use in my 54 caliber and thats just 77 loads per pound. Just a moderate amount of shooting will go through a pound of BP pretty quick.

My 10 pounds of powder just got here. I haven't even opened the box yet. But its here and I should be getting another 5+ pounds from a friend.
