Hi all, I suck at reviews so bear with me.
I picked up a DA/SA K100 "Patrol" last year after hearing some favorable reviews and figuring I needed something in 9mm anyway. This gun feels good in the hand, I haven't tried an M&P yet but this is about the best handling pistol I've felt so far. The grip is very well shaped and actually a bit slimmer than a 1911's despite its double column mag. Finishing standards are unfortunately a bit Eastern European, all you CZ-75 guys would know what I'm talking about.
The mags are essentially CZ-75 mags with a new follower and an extra cutout on the front for the mag catch, they were originally designed to hold 17 but are limited to 10 in canada and I can only get 9 into mine even after working with them for awhile.
The DA trigger is decent, 11 lbs and smooth but marred by an *annoying* quarter cock hitch. The SA is killer though, a very crisp 5 lbs with a reset actually a bit shorter than a 1911's.
The slide and barrel on this gun are just massive, beefy as a Ruger product though with somewhat better lines, the slide rides on embedded steel rails that are nice and thick. All the metal parts except for the stainless barrel and possibly the mags are Tennifer treated. The frame, trigger and even safety are plastic and the gun feels somewhat top heavy even for a poly pistol even when fully loaded, though full cap mags would help with that.
It's a rotating barrel action that seems very simple and strong, basically the barrel moves straight back while pivoting 35 degrees on a pin in the frame. As mentioned earlier the barrel is massive and chamber support seems not to be an issue since there's no feed cutaway, just a 360 degree "throat" leading in. The mags hold the top round nice and high relative to the chamber like a Beretta 92.
Field stripping is easy but a little tricky, once I got the hang of it i could open it up and put it back together in less time that it takes to read this sentence but the first time it took me about an hour of blunt cursing. the video below shows the takedown.

Anyway to the nitty gritty, the first time I shot it I was unprepared for how little recoil there was, i'd heard that rotating barrel actions had less recoil but compared to any other service style 9mm i'd used this was like shooting a big pellet gun. Very accurate too and with the excellent SA trigger it's almost cheaty smooth and easy to shoot well, especially for a box stock service type gun.
All in all I like it although there is some room for improvement I think the design has some serious promise. Supposely improved models will hit the U.S. market later this year or next year {hopefully} along with .40 and .45 versions.
