Hi all, I suck at reviews so bear with me. :D

I picked up a DA/SA K100 "Patrol" last year after hearing some favorable reviews and figuring I needed something in 9mm anyway. This gun feels good in the hand, I haven't tried an M&P yet but this is about the best handling pistol I've felt so far. The grip is very well shaped and actually a bit slimmer than a 1911's despite its double column mag. Finishing standards are unfortunately a bit Eastern European, all you CZ-75 guys would know what I'm talking about. :uhoh:

The mags are essentially CZ-75 mags with a new follower and an extra cutout on the front for the mag catch, they were originally designed to hold 17 but are limited to 10 in canada and I can only get 9 into mine even after working with them for awhile.

The DA trigger is decent, 11 lbs and smooth but marred by an *annoying* quarter cock hitch. The SA is killer though, a very crisp 5 lbs with a reset actually a bit shorter than a 1911's.

The slide and barrel on this gun are just massive, beefy as a Ruger product though with somewhat better lines, the slide rides on embedded steel rails that are nice and thick. All the metal parts except for the stainless barrel and possibly the mags are Tennifer treated. The frame, trigger and even safety are plastic and the gun feels somewhat top heavy even for a poly pistol even when fully loaded, though full cap mags would help with that.

It's a rotating barrel action that seems very simple and strong, basically the barrel moves straight back while pivoting 35 degrees on a pin in the frame. As mentioned earlier the barrel is massive and chamber support seems not to be an issue since there's no feed cutaway, just a 360 degree "throat" leading in. The mags hold the top round nice and high relative to the chamber like a Beretta 92.

Field stripping is easy but a little tricky, once I got the hang of it i could open it up and put it back together in less time that it takes to read this sentence but the first time it took me about an hour of blunt cursing. the video below shows the takedown.

Anyway to the nitty gritty, the first time I shot it I was unprepared for how little recoil there was, i'd heard that rotating barrel actions had less recoil but compared to any other service style 9mm i'd used this was like shooting a big pellet gun. Very accurate too and with the excellent SA trigger it's almost cheaty smooth and easy to shoot well, especially for a box stock service type gun.

All in all I like it although there is some room for improvement I think the design has some serious promise. Supposely improved models will hit the U.S. market later this year or next year {hopefully} along with .40 and .45 versions.

Yeah

Emailed R guns

guns is still in the ATF aprovel process. I will send you a e mail when avalible. should be in 90 days. thanks.> > > You are listed as the US importer for the Grand Power pistols. I was > just wondering if they have show up yet? If not, any idea when they'll > be available? >

Availability has been an issue up here too, I got mine from Marstar but Marstar has since had a falling out with the producer and is now down to their remaining stock and won't be getting anymore. Right now I can't find important extras like mags and springs and probably won't until the new Canadian distributer comes on line {The Shooting Edge} or can order them from the U.S.

One thing I forgot to mention in my review is that my K100 is an earlier variant that has a very tight slide to frame fit unlike the regular milspec models, this is probably great for accuracy but it makes for a very lube thirsty gun especially if you're doing a lot of shooting. I've never had a stoppage of any kind but I always make sure to quickly relube when I see the slide starting to get sluggish. The ones remaining at Marstar are probably the "tight" models just so you know, I'd prefer the regular type myself.

Yeah

It's at the top of my list for next gun purchase. I just hope they don't price them high because of the novelty factor. Too bad we can't get the 2 round burst model.

The U.S. price should be decent as they're priced similar to CZs and Rugers up here. I'd recommend getting one of the Mk 6 models though, as well as the bit more polished looking "lower" with a standard rail they'll allow you to eventually switch between calibers with just a barrel, mag and maybe recoil spring change.

I really want one in .45, the recoil should be on par to a 9mm in a regular pistol and they'll be set up to take Tanfoglio full capacity 10 round mags as I hate the idea of blocked mags. Especially when a bunch of us seem to only be able to get 9 rounds into ours and the dimples may be slowing the mag spring enough to cause feed issues for some.
