I’ve had several of my Grandpa’s old rifles and shotguns stored in my dad’s safe for years. I decided to bring one home for a little project. My understanding is that he got this Winchester model 1906 new, probably around 1911-1912. He would have been 12 or 13. He hunted a lot of raccoons, foxes, beavers for pelts that he sold while growing up in NC. Anyway, it looks like he started a project replacing the stock with a 1890 stock that doesn’t fit quite well and it’s missing some screws on the stock and some magazine parts. Anyway, I’d like to preserve it, find an original 1906 stock, parts and shoot it. It will be fun to have my daughters plinking with their great grandpas rifle.
