I'm looking for a nice set of stag grips for my S&W 29-2 and have stumbled across Grashorns Gunworks (which happens to be located here in CO).

They have decent prices and their stuff looks alright in pictures but I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with their grips.

Fit, finish, quality, customer service etc?

I would link to a couple of pics on their site but they are HUGE (and they just sized them down in the HTML code so the pages take forever to load).

I had him make me a set for my model 22-4 and they fit my model 57 just fine too. Mine are about 50 % bark with medallions. Fit and finish is excellnt. You will be pleased with his grips. And his customer service is great, he called me a couple times to discuss what I wanted so I would be happy.

Patrick is a great guy. He's a member over at the S&W forum. That's how I got to know him and his work. He made the stag handles for my 586-7 below. The fit, finish and craftmanship is second to none. Customer service is awesome too. He'll work with you on exactly how much bark you want showing and where.

Black Sky, your grips are pretty much exactly how I want mine (assuming those medallions are silver as my 29 is nickel) well that and mine will be for a square butt N frame and not a round butt L frame :p

What was the turnaround time like (not that I'm in a huge hurry)?

Patrick Grashorn's grips.

A year or so back I asked him to make matching grips for my Ruger Vaquero Birdshead .45 and my Ruger Bisley Vaquero .45. I talked with him by phone and told him what I was looking for and the 2 sets of grips I got from him were fantastic. The amount of bark I wanted and on both sets bark lines were oriented to the guns exactly the same. His work is worthy of praise. I had my grips pretty quickly after ordering. Seems like maybe 2 weeks.

He made me a set for the K frame S&W that I requested be polished smooth. They fit the gun OK but I thought they were a bit bulky at the top so I thinned and reshaped them slightly. I also installed the medallions.

I have never heard anyone complain about Patrick's work (well, except for me and it was minor).

Well I'm getting all excited now ... $145 for N Frame grips in Elk Stag (with medallions) is pretty doggone good.

What is the difference between Elk and Moose?

I have them on both of my carry guns, and I have seen many other samples of his work.

They're good to go.
