Been looking around for a set of affordable elk stag grips for my old 1911. I've had this one since '97 and I've just about worn the old thing out. tens of thousands of rounds. I rebuilt it twice,:banghead: the last time with Ed Brown and Wilson parts. Still tight as a drum and accurate. Nothing original on her but the slide/sights and the frame. Been worked over more than the Kardashian clan.
Like I said, been looking for a while, a few years to be more accurate. Came across some nice grips on etsy.com. A company called MDGrips. Looked good and the price was right.
Fired off an email to the company with a few questions and I figured I'd get an answer back in a few days or so. So a couple hours later, Mike, the owner of the company calls me! Color me impressed. Personal service.
Well, Mike went on to answer every question I had and then some. Questioned me about what I wanted, and he wanted details. He said that he had made a set of grips for himself that sounded exactly like what I wanted and he'd send them off to me. If I didn't like them just send 'em back and he'd make another set or refund the cost. But he was pretty sure these were what I wanted.
Oh boy howdy! He was right, exactly what I wanted. Good bark, great color, perfect fit. I couldn't have asked for better. They even had brown undertones on the horn, not easy to find.
Great person to person service. Fast shipping, great prices for what is essentially a custom grip, and to top it all off, an excellent quality grip made to perfection. I'll treasure these grips for years to come. I have no doubt their durable enough that My grandson will enjoy using them too. These should age beautifully.
Mike is a retired L/E, so lets give this guy some more work. I'll be ordering a set for my blackhawk convertible as soon as I get the steel frame fitted. I'll ad those photo's to this thread when I get them. Check back in a while.
If you want a set of hand made elk stag grips for your favorite pistol, check this company out. You will not be disappointed.
