Great day at the range.
I have not shot my Ruger 77 RSI in .308 Win in a couple of years. Having put in for a late season Elk tag, I thought I'd check to see if it would be a go-to rifle.
Now, I've found Rugers to be a little bit finicky about ammo that worked well for accuracy and consistency. I grabbed a few boxes of factory loads from my hunting stash and went to the range. To make a long story short, the R77RSI SS .308 Win (Lipsey 2012 Special) liked Federal 180 gr Soft Points and 168gr Federal GMM...the former 4-shot 1/2" group with a 5th shot flyer and the latter, a 7/8" 5-shot group. It may be going out in late December for an Elk with the 180s.
I also chronographed my Win M70 EW in 7mm RM...my factory 140gr and 160gr Trophy Bonded Tips were 50-75fps faster than spec, though, since I live a mile ASL, they were where I expected and both shot to <1 MOA. I've got two great Elk rifles...decisions, decisions...
