...and confirm the sight in on my Savage 116 FSHAK.

I had a variety of handloads, 150 gr. SMKs over IMR 4064, I 4895 and Varget and 168gr SMKs over IMR 4895, IMR 4064, Varget.

So I went to my 100 yd range (8 min from my home) with my new Win M70 and Savage 116 FSHAK.

Net, net, my new Win 70 w/ Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10x44 w/ Rapid Z800 shot 3 shots into 1 hole with 0.375 between the three centers using 43.0 gr IMR 4895 under 168gr SMK and CCI BR2 primers, while my Savage 116 FHSAK shot 3 shots into a group 0.5" w/ 47.0 gr IMR 4064 and 168gr SMKs.

Both look like useful Elk rifles...my next test is with my hunting bullets...Nosler 168gr BT, CT 168gr BST and 168gr Barnes TSX.

Shooting is the most fun you can do with your clothes on!

Sorry. Both the Win and the Savage are in .30-06. It's my favorite all-around hunting cartridge (though .308 Win is close behind). I've used Barnes 168gr TSX for hunting and had good accuracy results with Nosler Ballistic Tips.

I love the new Win.

Nice. I have been wanting a Win Ex but nobody in the area has had one yet that I could even take a look at.

I like the Sporter and Feather Weight, so I figure the Ex will be dandy too.

I spent a couple of months struggling between the Featherweight Stainless and the Extreme Weather. What finally made up my mind was the nagging concern that walnut would let me down at some point in the late fall/early winter weather. I think the looks of the FW Stainless are superb and I'm sure the same level of accuracy would be available with it. I have had good luck with the Savage Weather Warrior with AccuStock (similar to the Win EW stock) so that finally helped me decide.

Hope you can find what you want and that it works out well for you.
