Well, my wife asked me what I wanted for Father's Day, and after the obligatory power tool/gun stuff list, I told her I would like her to go to range with me. So, we did!
Attached are a few photos of her (I really didn't think anyone would want to see one of me ). She did amazingly well, especially since she hasn't been to the range with me for a couple of years (our oldest is now able to babysit, so we don't have to hire an outside sitter).
Hopefully, there will be many more like this day. We started off with the Walther P22 (her choice). I warned her it was not very accurate, right before she knocked down five falling plates in a row. Then we moved on to the NAA .22 magnum, which I made the same mistake, and she had the same effects. By the third gun, I stopped telling her they were inaccurate (it must have been operator error). She liked the Ruger Mark II, but it was a bit heavy for her. She also felt she was cheating, because where ever she put the dot, she hit! (Isn't that the idea?)
We finally got to the S&W 9mm. Same thing-- short barrel, not that accurate. She put one in two consecutive targets at ~20 feet 2" from the bullseye. Her complaint -- it didn't hit in the center! Don't worry, she got better.
Then on to the rifles. She liked the AR, but what really tripped her trigger was the .22 Anschutz. She really took to the bolt action, with open sights. Again, she missed two out of all the plates she shot at.
She's a keeper!
