I've been shooting since I was around 12, born and raised in the town I now work in as a police patrolman. I've always had a deep affection for outdoor sports; fishing, shooting, hiking, etc. and that's why I stay in this area. I got my college degree in Outdoor Education as well. One thing that I've been very proud of is getting my Grandfather's desire for technical learning (he was a clocksmith "on the side" for years and years). For me this translated to firearms.

Jump ahead to yesterday.....My Chief said...."Well, me and Sarge aren't getting any younger (Sarge is our armorer...small 3 full time/3 part time dept. and both are retiring soon) and someone is going to have to take over" so.....HE'S SENDING ME TO SIG ARMORERS SCHOOL!!!!:):):)

Needless to say I'm pretty excited. I live in a somewhat depressed area, and as far at the PD is concerned the training opportunities are few and far between (budgets, shift coverage, etc.)

He picked up on my vigor for this "stuff" and saw that I was even teaching HIM a few things along the way (He's just not a shooter) so I'm pretty honored to hear that from him.

THR has been a great forum for me too; very respectful and a great resource so I'm excited to share with you guys too when I get done. Big smiles!!!!

Sounds great, congrats. If it is anything like the Beretta Armorer's School my department sent me to you'll have a blast. Set back and enjoy the ride. Your Chief has put a good deal of faith in you. Who knows where this may eventually lead with their retirements in the future. Best of luck.
