Went to the range today. I haven't been in a couple of weeks, but today I didn't go alone. My 15 yo granddaughter went along. I started her out on my glenfield m60 at 50 yds. While I zeroed my m11 savage in 223 rem. I sent out monarch to be serviced and installed Leopold vx3l. When I was finished she shot that while I shot my rem 700 7mm-08. After a couple of mags I had her fire my s&w 5904 9mm at 10 yds. Finally I pulled my AR 15 5.56 x45. She had a blast and actually scored pretty well considering she hadn't shot firearms before. I let her keep her targets to remember her range time. IMG_20191013_180502.jpg IMG_20191013_163123.jpg IMG_20191013_163101.jpg IMG_20191013_163043.jpg

those ripe pants at the knees help one ease at bending better to shoot with long pants on

Young joints bend easily, rips might help some of us older guys. I was more concerned with the purple shirt being fairly low cut and firing 9mm pistol. Didn't want her to get burned.

I gave much instruction while there especially keeping muzzle in a safe direction. Even had a good example of poor muzzle awareness from a seasoned shooter sweeping us with his rifle. I used hand signals to put him straight, looked directly in his eyes pointed at his rifle and then to a safe direction. Compliance was immediate.

She said that her favorite was my m11 223, then the 9mm, finally the ar.

Good for you sir! Looks like she has good guidance!

Nice work, Granddad!

Mine both started around 10, the oldest has her CCW now.

It shocks and saddens me that I have grown men and women at work that tell me they've never been shooting. I will offer to remedy that and have taken several for their first range trips. They universally loved it. I like to think it helps move the social stigma meter a little bit in our direction.
