Hope that it is OK to post this here................this is my favourite section of THR....thats why I chose here.

A great friend, mentor, fisherman and hunter passed away a few hours ago. His name was Dr David Johnson and he was a good man.He loved everything about the outdoors.................... loved it,knew about it,respected it, and...............realised how precious it was.It is early morning over here with the suns early golden glow lighting the sky, he loved gardening and it seems appropriate that he died on the first day of Spring. He knew the feel of a left and right on a rising pair of pheasants, he knew what it was like to feel the pull of the first salmon of the season on his line............he knew all about the hunters heart.Years after we met I married his daughter and gave him a wonderful granddaughter.........my heart aches for the pain she now feels....they were close those two.The marriage did not last, and he went out of his way to make my soon to be wife Jodie, feel welcome and a part of the extende family. Thankyou for that.I salute you my friend and will miss you greatly.....your friend Peter

I'm only new here and don't know what drove me to post the above here....partly because I wanted to let like minded people all over the world know that one of their people had passed away, partly to salute my friend, partly to clear my head BUT mainly because I feel someting special about this forum. Thanks to you all

Our prayers are with you and the family. But also your gravitating to this Forum says tons about the humanity of its members- including yourself.

Condolences to the family .... We have a saying in trapshooting, when a squad slams a perfect round, ... " All twenty-fives, all end". Sounds like he had a perfect life, so he left with a perfect score....

He's probably catching huge fish after taking his limit in birds all the time laughing at you and thinking "if you only knew". Sorry for your loss.

Hello Peter,

My condolences in the passing of your loved one, Dr Johnson.

Sincerly,

LGB

Sincere condolences, peterc

As the French say "There is nothing so complete as a presence and nothing as total as an absence"
I feel privileged & honored by your sharing this mourning.

Dr David Johnson had tasted the sweet things in life and the Lord will grant him peace and tranquility.
My condolences.

I too have an elder friend that loves everything about shooting, hunting and the outdoors. He plants his garden every year and enjoys it bounty. It will be great sadness for me when I learn of his passing but I know he will be in a better place. Peter, Condolences for Georgia, USA.

Dr. Johnson sounds like a good and honourable man who enjoyed life in all of its capacities. They are hard to find and harder to lose. My condolences and prayers to you and his family.
