Now that the CMP is sold out of the spam cans we've all seen prices spiking. I've found a gentleman offering the 240-round spam cans of HXP for $165 locally, and I was wondering what kind of prices people are seeing of what's left on the market?

They just got a bunch more ammo. Be patient and they'll post it for sale. I personally wouldn't pay more for HXP than the CMP charges/d. But I'm cheap. :)

Hopefully when it's available again the "hoarders/profiteers" will be forced to liquidate their stocks at what they paid or lower prices.

I was lucky enough to find somebody locally who was selling 1.5k for less then the CMP. However it's already starting to go through my Garand at a fast rate.

The 240-rd. spam cans I bought earlier this year from the CMP were $86 each. There's NFW I'd pay $165 for the same thing, and no "gentleman" would charge that much.

i have a lot of garand ammo thats greek hxp
but its new not surplus
im considering selling a few 1000 rounds of it

Well Jim,

If you decide to part with any I know of a very hungry 1919a4 that would be most apperciative.

Well in this case I guess it would be best to hold out for the CMP. Of course MemphisJim if you do happen to sell some of that HXP feel free to throw me a PM.

I've never ordered from CMP before. How long after you place an order for ammo does it usually take before you get it? Just curious.

Per the CFO of the CMP, add about a month or 2 to the timeline below before you actually get the ammo in your hands.

"MORE .30-06 HXP AMMO SOON: The CMP has been successful in acquiring another large quantity of HXP .30-06 ammo. We expect delivery in Jan 2010 and should have the ammo ready for sale by Feb or Mar. Until we actually receive and inspect the ammo, we will not know what packaging configurations will be available, but expect them to be the same as we have had for the past few years. We do not yet know what our final cost will be. We do know that the quantity is large enough to satisfy our customer needs for several years. We will not accept any pre-orders or establish a waiting list. Thanks for your support and patience."

Wait on the CMP, they now have a posting that ammo will be available Feb or March, prices unknown at this point. :)

Hard to say. Sometimes a couple weeks, sometimes a few months. depends on demand. demand has been very high the past year.

Ammo is pricey.

Gov't trying to drive us out of shooting by taxing and otherwise manipulating ammo prices with indirect means.

Seems like forever. Been three months so far on an order I placed for 2 cases of .30 carbine. Both my orders for M2 ball took at least that long too. Take a number and wait, but you don't get anything unless you take a number first! (place an order)

ive decided to part with som 30-06
im giving beelzy until the evening to get back with me since he asked first then ill put it out there

I'm seeing the Spam cans of HXP going for about $125 to $150 at the local gunshows and some of its selling. I would probably pay $100 (if I needed it, which I don't at the moment) and maybe $125, but no higher. I'm not a CMP member, so I don't buy theirs.

I did however just get 304 rounds of mixed US Surplus (Lake City, Twin City, Winchester, etc) in clips and bandoleers for less than $.50 a round. I was happy at that price...
