Anyone have one of the green mountain 1-6 twist experimental barrels. I'm thinking my ar build is going to turn out like a spr since everything is a bit heavy, I'd like a 223 for shooting the 69gr rmr bthp since there so cheap, and I have a good bit of cci 41s. So the 6 arc is kinda on the back burner again from lack of primers and probably brass and powder to.

This barrel looks interesting to me, I think a 1-6 will be ok with the 69gr and I could go heavy if I ever want to. Barrel is 19" none threaded 416ss only have 3 reviews but are very positive, I've been using gm barrels for a long time and they always shot very well.

it's the only 18-20" barrel they have in stock for $ 218.95, I can get a 18" dmr Odin barrel for about the same price and a tunable gas block.

So anyone have one, seen any one that has and what's your thoughts.

1-6 twist .223 Remington barrel? Why? What possible advance is there? Is someone making 100 grain bullets?

BTW I have shot up to 77 grain SMKs out to 600 yards in a 1-9. Which I know is not the case the case with every 1-9 barrel. But mine works. I also have a 1-7.

Maybe they had a bunch of blanks for something else like 224v and could never make enough to sell it all. Would be interesting to know. Tho for the new mono bullets the 1-6 maybe nice.

Some guys at ASF were testing 1:6 twist barrels with 90gn VLD .223 loads and we’re getting a fair amount of blow ups

ETA: I have a Wylde chambered 1:7 Proof barreled AR and the throat will not accommodate 90 VLDs or even 85.5 Full Bores. 77 SMKs are good. Just some food for thought

1-6 is a little faster than I'd like for anything short of a 90 grainer which the ARs can't run for the magazine comfortably, but I don't think it'll be an issue as long as the bullets aren't lightly built.

Ya think it's to much twist for me, heaviest I'll ever shoot is 77 gr but like I said I'd like to order a bunch of the 69 rmr bullets. Have to look and see what other 223/5.56 barrels Odin has. To bad more gm barrels aren't in stock.
