i visited the green mountain family shooting center in lakewood co a couple of days ago. i was not impressed with the staff. imho they were rude and unprofessional. not to mention they had a smug attitude. the woman behind the counter used profanity:cuss: she was talking about kicking someone's ass and using profanity in general.

i know that all ranges have rules. that it is necessary. my friends and i were sighting in an hk sr9. my friend attached a lower target to his upper target and began to zero his rifle. shortly thereafter the male employee entered the range and approached him. he began to chastise him. his words, " i'm going to take care of two things, RIGHT NOW!!!" he was standing over my friend and had his face about 3 inches from my friends face. he went on about the target arrangement and accused my friend of rapid firing. he wasn't. he was zeroing his rifle, that's it. no rapid firing. what this employee should have done, is ask my friend to come out into the lobby and address his issues there. i don't believe anyone appreciates another person getting in their personal space. then here comes the female. she was saying that we had been in there for 2 hours and other people were going to be coming in. she gave us 10 minutes to finish up. mind you, there were 4 empty stalls available. we had paid the $35 for both rifle and pistol, so we packed up the rifles and moved over to the pistol side. i don't know what the rush was about.

the staff went on and on about not shooting your handguns on the rifle side of the range. and vice versa with rifles on the handgun side. we didn't do this. but after rambling on and on, this female employee ended the rant with, "you can thank a denver police officer for this". i suppose a denver officer fired his handgun on the rifle side. i guess they thought we would do it too.

i am from the raleigh n.c. area and have not experienced this coarse attitude at our ranges. i was kind've taken aback by it. have any of the colorado members visited this range and if so what were your experiences?

unfortunately i cannot recommend spending your money here.

Yup, I know the exact place you're talking about. That was not a terribly popular range when I was there. It had gone out of business from the previous owner and the people you describe took it over. The Silver Bullet shooting range is better from what I've heard. The one I always went to was The Firing Line in Aurora (Indoor pistol only). Sorry to hear about your experience.

Sorry to hear about your experience. I went there yesterday for the first time, just moved here and I found it to be just fine and they were very nice. Could be just having a bad day.

Yikes, sounds like a crappy time was had by all... :( Frisbee -- I usually shoot at Eagle1 in Raleigh and it is a polar opposite of Green Mountain. Makes you happy for what you have at home...

I just looked at the photos and the shop interior looks dreary (and the female worker DOES look foul-tempered, arms crossed and all...)

Not a good place to shoot.

Can’t recommend!! I wish I could considering the scarcity of shooting facilities but I have been there three times and the staff is always rude, unprofessional, and lacking in firearms knowledge. The facility is expensive, $21 per person for only 30 minutes and they charge every person even if you are sharing the same range. Until now I have put up with the rudeness and cost because they were close to my house but today’s experience has put an end to that. I went in to sight in my new 50 beowulf and the lady behind the counter said I couldn’t shoot it there, obviously confusing the 50 beo with the 50 BMG. I politely explained the 50 beo is closer to a pistol round than a rifle and that it has less power than the deer rifles that are shot there all the time. She asked the owner who turned around and said I couldn’t shoot because last time I brought that rifle in I shot some lights out. I informed him that it was a brand new unfired weapon that I had just gotten the day before so he must have me confused with someone else. After realizing his mistake instead of apologizing he turned his back on me started to talking to someone else, I asked if I could shoot and he said no changing his story to the gun is took powerful, all the while people where shooting larger guns in the background, showing that even the owner lacks firearms knowledge or is just too immature to own up to a mistake. Needless to say I won’t be back.
