Aside from blasting zombies with ARs (including one varmint-style flat-top that didn't appear to have a rear sight) and shorty shotguns, there's an exchange with the last group of women about why one of them carries a gun.

It finishes with a fine rejoinder on why not to use pepper spray ('If I'm about to get raped I don't want to give the MF a skin rash, I want to end him' or thereabouts) and the flaws in turning to an edged weapon ("You know what happens to the folks that carry knives? They get shot!").

I just saw this movie tonight. Hilarious and gory. The most disturbing scene is when the blonde breaks her wrist, ouch.
The fake movie previews where the funniest part of the whole thing. I want to see Machete.

Hi! This is my first post, but for those of you who want to see machete, let it be known that it is in pre-production and will be directed by Robert Rodriguez in another 'Grindhouse' type film.

I enjoyed the movie but did anyone else find the Tarentino part a little boring at first? He tried to do his signature dialogue but it ended up being 45 minutes of boring chick talk before anything worthy happened. Maybe Death Proof needed to be shown first because Planet Terror really wore me out with nonstop action.

The scene in the shop did cover the whole guns vs no guns thing but since it was done in blaxploitation manner, I dont' think most people would take it serious.

For me, the Mopar appearances made up for the initial lag of Death Proof though, '70 440 Chally and '69 Charger were a pleasant surprise, and that I've seen Vanishing Point too despite being way over my age demographic so I wasn't all clueless on the era-pop culture.

I also did hear from a friend stating Machete will be made into a full feature movie. They beeped with the wrong Mexican :D

i hear this movie is good but when i first saw previews i didnt even think it was a real movie. theres a girl with an m16 for a leg lol. i might have to see this now.

I thought it was a great flick too - the fake previews were great, and it was cool to see the retrograde film act as a character of its own.

Full length Die Hard 4 trailer too (McTiernan's antigun stance notwithstanding...), looks like McClane is switching to a PX4.

If you liked Grindhouse, tell your friends. It's currently tanking at the box office, reducing the chance of any other films of that style getting off the ground.

What does everyone mean by fake previews? Like beofre the movie they had previews for films that were not going to be produced or the commercials they have now for the film are misleading?

I really liked the movie, but I cringed when the antagonist flipped his pistol over, and fired it while holding onto the slide....... not to mention they don't explain how the hell Cherry was firing the m-16 mounted to her leg...... I know you aren't supposed to think about it, but I couldn't help it.

Grindhouse is presented as if you were watching a double feature at a sleazy theater in the '70s or '80s, complete with phony trailers for movies in the style of the two Grindhouse features. They are clever parodies of low-budget horror and action movie trailers. The whole 3-hour program is to recreate the experience of spending an afternoon or an evening at a cheap theater 25 or 35 years ago, complete with previews for nonexistent (but intriguingly cheesy) exploitation movies.

To keep this gun-related: How was Cherry supposed to operate the charging handle on that AR leg? It would have been blocked by the stump. I think an AK prosthetic would have been more realistic. :p

There is a certain threshold past which you're not allowed to nit pick gun errors. This threshold frequently involves zombies.

The movie is full of bad dialogue, cheap props, plot development that goes nowhere, wildly implausible situations, and basically breaks every rule of good movie-making. It does it in a way that is truly hilarious to anyone who knows how to watch a movie with a critical eye and in the style of the exploitation/low-budget films of yesterday that were low on substance but heavily laden with CHEAP THRILLS. How does the go-go dancer/amputee/machine-gun leg girl fire the fully auto gun attached to her stump? Who knows?! Who cares! It's COOL!!! and in a grindhouse film, that's all that really matters.

If you have fond childhood memories of sneaking off to see bottom of the barrel movies you know your parents wouldn't approve of, then Grindhouse will take you on a journey down memory lane and give you some good laughs and cheap thrills along the way.

I highly recommend this movie! But only to people who appreciate good schlock that doesn't mind poking fun at itself.

Fake previews: Great - I want to see Machete.

Death Planet: Good - Rose McGowan - that's one hot chick! Worth the price of a matinee ticket just to see her. There's more blood, gore, action and every movie cliche' you can imagine than you'll see in ten other movies combined. CHEESY describes it to a Tee but it's a fine, robust and very tasty cheesy.

Death Proof: I fell asleep a few times. Can't believe Kurt Russel wasted his time. I sure hope they paid him well. Action flick for chicks who have a secret urge to beat up guys. If I ever meet Tarantino on the street I'm gonna demand my money back and whip his ass if he says no.

if this movie is as good as Big trouble in little china or maximum overdrive i think ill be happy
Not even close to being as good as Big Trouble in little China. Haven't seen Maximum Overdrive so can give no opinion.
