When ordering grips for a 1911, there is an option that says "cut for ambidextrous thumb safeties".
Are they talking about a knotch for the extended safety paddle, or are they talking about a slot cut for the spur on the right side's safety?
I do not have an ambi safety on my gun, however I do have an extended safety. Currently the extended safety touches the top of the grips, and chips/nicks them. I'm looking for grips with more clearance for the extended safety on the left side of the gun, but no difference in grip shape on the left side.
Because of the extended safety, do I need grips with an ambi cut, despite not having a safety lever on the right side of the gun?
I know its kind of hard to articulate what I'm talking about, but any help would be appreciated.
