ambi grips with traditional safety

are there any possible problems that might arise from using grips cut for an ambi safety with a gun that has a left side only safety, i'm referring to a 1911 by the way.

I have a set of VZ alien grips on my gun, and I like them, but the gun is going back to springfield for some warranty work, and I'm going to ask them to put a single side safety on it, and i was wondering if my grips would still work.

I know there will be that little gap, but will it hurt anything?

No.
I've had ambi grips on standard 1911's and never had a problem. I can't remember even thinking about it, but I'm sure that I never had a problem with them.

I can live with cleaning out some dust. or i suppose i could always fill it with epoxie or something, and sand it back flush.
