I picked up a Diamondback .22lr w/ 6" barrel today. Overall condition is 98% with 100% bluing and only a very faint turn line. The big downside is the grips are not original and the wood replacement grips, while very attractive, are a little thin. I don't have big hands but like a fairly wide grip surface for shooting target competitions. Any suggestions? My only criteria is that they must look good enough to compliment the beauty of this fine firearm.

A lot of Colt revolver owner's like the fancy Hogue Mono-grip.

This seems to feel better on the Colt's than most others, and Hogue's come in some REALLY fancy woods, at decent prices.

I saw some "new" Colt Diamondback grips on ebay for $25. what's up with that? Colt still makes grips for guns they stopped producing years ago?

Rock Jock:

Aim your browser at: http://www.herrett-stocks.com/tgtrevlr.htm and pull the trigger. They're custom in that they're custom-made to fit your hand, but standard in that Herrett's doesn't vary designs much, if at all.

I've bought four or five or six of these stocks for assorted revolvers and a semi-automatic pistol or two. Speedy delivery? Nope. Cheap? Nope. Accurate? You bet.

Fitz Diamondback Grips

Fitz made the first aftermarket Pistol grips for Diamondback pistols for officers who shot poorly with the standard colt grips. The Clt trigger guard was hard on the center finger knuckle when officers were shooting to improve their monthly shooting pay before WW2.

The Fitz gunfighter grip designs for the Smith J frame and Colt Diamondback, Cobra, Agent ,Police Positive and Police Special solved the problem and many were sold over the years. I have a few left in my collection and sending me a tracing of your bare frame will tell me if I can fit it with a Cherrywood or Walnut hardwood grip shown in the attachment.
