I know this has been discussed on THR before, but since I'm fresh from the range, I'm going to discuss it again. A few years back I bought a 629-2 to carry while bowhunting for bear. Almost before I gave the factory wood grips a chance, I switched them to Pachmeyer Decelerators. I wanted the smaller profile for carrying under a hunting jacket, and the added benefit of reducing the pounding on my hand. I left them on for a couple of years, but found the gun fairly unpleasant to shoot with my normal loads which are 10.9 gr of Unique pushing a 240gr Magtech JSP. I have other big-bores and am not recoil sensitive, but the soft rubber of the Decelerator grips seemed to almost grip TOO much into the web of my hand. Also, my jacket or shirt always seemed to catch on the grip and ride up uncomfortably. So, the other day I switched back to the wood grips and yesterday went out to the range. I shot my whole box of 50, and wished I had more. There was that much difference! Also, the wooden grip, though it printed more didn't allow my coat to ride up over it. So......I'm sticking with the original factory grips from here on out. And they look good too.
