What kind of grips would go good with a 19. I was thinking about rosewood hogues, but I'm not sure. Anyone have a 19 with aftermarket grips?

Rosewood finger groove Hogues would be an excellent choice. I have the Cocobolo finger groove Hogues and I think they are great. I am looking for another set to go on my other S&W 19 right now. I like wood grips that have lots of red in them if they are for a nice deep blued gun like the S&W 19. Red, orange and shades of brown wood grips with a glossy finish on a deep bled revolver is about as good as it gets.

If possible, hand pick your grip because wood varies so much you may get a color or grain that you don't like. If you can hand pick it or see a pic before you buy, you should get what you like.

I've been very happy with my rosewood badgers.

I have the standard S&W target grips (the checkered ones they used to put on their guns) on my 19. I just bought a 686 yesterday and that gun is going to eventually get Miculek grips (Brownells has them for $70). Finger grooves are almost universally in the wrong place for my hands.

The 686 has rubber Pachmyers on it now. While looking at these grips makes me gag, the more I handled the gun, the more these grips grew on me.

Go to smith-wessonforum.com; under the "Lounge" section there's a thread about non-standard grips - some very nice pictures are posted.
