Let's see, suppose you have a group of like-minded individuals at your place of work who share a common interest in pistol shooting. What could you do to bring a group like this together on a fun or perhaps given time a semi-formal level? The experience level varies, one of the people has shot competitively on a military shooting team and goes down to :D me. What do you do for fun with a group like this? Any replies would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Blackwater used to have corporate shooting classes. I brought back a flyer for my boss and suggested he make the arangements, but nothing ever came of it. I wonder why.

All total, I have 10 shooting buddies, but it is very rare when we all get together for shooting. It's usually 3 or 4, sometimes 5 that show up.

We don't shoot at a formal gun range. Our shooting trips are combined with camping/hiking/exploring in several remote desert (Mojave) regions. Our trips are usually 3-day events, but a few of us have spent 5+ days out there. There's nothing better than camping, GREAT-tasting camp food, shooting in the fresh air and sitting around a camp fire at night!

Besides the "competitive" paper target comparisons, I "jury-rigged" a moving target that is a lot of fun and VERY competitive. If you're interested, please e-mail me for the info, for it's kind of difficult to explain in words. It's a pulley system which utilizes gravity for the moving target, and there are only a few parts to it....
probably less than $5 for everything, at your local hardware store.....and it only takes about 10 minutes to set up. Add to that, it's re-usable, except that the target board will need to be replaced every so often.

Nothing formal at all.

A group of about 5-8 of us often just go to the local gun club at lunch to shoot. Sometimes, when the executives from Australia are in, we make a long lunch out of it and go to the range with a dozen people or so.

Huge smiles from our Southern execs when they get to shoot a variety of handguns.

We like to sponsor a "bring an odd gun" day at our range. You would not believe some of the strange stuff that shows up. I've been able to shoot some very interesting guns over the years, thanks to this program.

We talked the owner of one of the local ranges into staying open an extra two hours one night a week for our exclusive use for bowling pin shoots. On a good night we pulled 20 to 30 people. We charged $15 per person. The range owner got $5 of the $15 and the rest paid for the lumber to build tables and purchased used pins from the area bowling alleys.
